Local Rural Development Commission

Rural development consists of a coordinated set of development, organisation and redevelopment actions undertaken or carried out in the rural environment by a municipality with the aim of its regeneration and restoration, in accordance with its specific character and in such a way as to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants from an economic, social and cultural point of view.

The measures are summarised in a document known as the 'Programme Communal de Développement Rural' (Municipal Rural Development Programme) or PCDR.

In accordance with the Walloon Regional Council Decree of 6 June 1991 on rural development, a 'Commission Locale de Développement Rural' (Local Rural Development Commission) or CLDR has been in place since 1997.

The CLDR is a consultative body at the municipality's disposal. It has advisory powers and is associated with all stages of the development, implementation, monitoring, update and review of the municipal rural development programme.
